Hi Readers,
Sad news this week with the passing of Flyers great Bernie Parent. NHL Hall of Famer, two-time Stanley Cup Champion, two-time Conn Smythe winner (playoff MVP), and two-time Vezina Trophy winner (best goalie)—all in the 1973-74 and 1974-75 seasons. Beloved throughout Philly for the past half-century. ONLY THE LORD SAVES MORE THAN BERNIE.
Much better news on the Philly traffic front. After being closed for an absurdly long 5+ years, the MLK Drive Bridge has finally reopened, easing traffic on the Schuylkill, the Kelly, Montgomery Drive, and more. The Martin Luther King Drive is simply one of Philly’s most pleasant and beautiful roads. I LOVE THE MLK.
What a victory for the Eagles this week. GO BIRDS! And let’s get ready for Red October! GO FIGHTINS’.
Remember that October 6th is the deadline for appealing Philly property taxes. Read more about that here.
Finally, whether or not you mark the Days of Awe—the ten days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur—it’s a good moment to slow down, breathe, and set a few realistic intentions. Nothing dramatic, just a little better than yesterday.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Best regards,
Jeff
